Because I have so many shirts I try to use more than one for each project. I used two for this one and other three will be transformed into a skirt ( soon, I hope...)
1a+b. This projects requires two shirts, one slightly larger than the other (if possible, but if the shirts are the same size, there is a trick to fix that - I'll explain later) 2. Cut off half of the collar from the shirt you decide to use for the top.3. Cut off the first shirt about 2 inches under the bust line. 4. Cut off the second shirt (this one will be used for the bottom) right under the armpit line. 5. Cut off the part with the buttonholes and unsew the part with the buttons so we gain an extra inch. Sew the two ends together and then stitch the raw top. 6. Here is the trick I mentioned above: make two pleats under the bust and two at the back. 7. Sew the bottom to the top. 8. Cut off a casing strip from the first shirt. Press lengthwise edge of casing to center. Stitch casing over the previous stitch and close to edges.9. Use a safety pin to insert elastic through casting. 10. Add on the pockets. 11.Cut the sleeves short and finish the with strips from the other shirt's sleeves.
