Before getting pregnant I was size 8. Like most/all women I was kind of obsessed with my weight but wasn't doing anything specific to keep it under control. I have never been a diet person, I tried it a few times but only the idea of restraining myself from eating made me even hungrier and I ended up eating more than usual. Still, there were some little tricks like cutting down on sweets or bread. But overall I was almost happy with my figure, just fantasizing about a slimmer figure.
The pregnancy left behind some extra pounds. I look in the mirror and don't see a waistline anymore and this drives me crazy. I put on 50 lb. during my pregnancy and I'm determined to lose them all. I'm not too harsh with myself like setting a 3-month deadline. Oh, no, I'm reasonable. It took me 9 months to put on 50 lb. and I want to get back in shape in 9 months.
I won't follow any diet, because as I mentioned I'm not a diet person and secondly I'm breastfeeding and I can't cut down on food - quite the opposite I should eat more calories -, but I'll try not to eat anymore after 6 pm, eat more fruits and vegetables and eat less sugary stuff. But most importantly I'll do a 30-minute workout at least 5 days a week.
I'll keep track online of my weight loss (check the left sidebar for updates) and hopefully I'll have 140 lb at the end of July. Fingers crossed!
Do you have any tricks to share? Anything that worked on you?

Deleteyet my sis, a gym obsessed had been size 12-14 all this time, until she changed her food habits and she went down to 8 in 6 month. But it was hard. Follow your plan, but after you stop breastfeeding, try to go strict on how many calories and what you eat even more! Good luck
DeleteI had gestational diabetes in both pregnancies so, I had to atend an endocrinologist. They gave me a schedule of what I could eat and when. The key factor was never to be more than 2 and half/3 hours without eat, except at night (no more than 8 hours without food). So I would eat at 8 am, 10h30/11h am, 1h30 pm, 4h30 pm, 7h30 pm and 11/12 pm. I had to do lot of meals and eat less in each one and also drink at least 2 lts of water a day (now, I should drink 3 lts because I'm also breastfeeding).
ReplyDeleteI started this last preganncy with 69 kg (i was overeight because I measure 1, 51 m) and end it with 75 kg. Now, 12 days after given birth, I'm 67 kg. (I must follow the same schedule at least more 2 months, well I should follow for life, really!!)
My kids are are 5 and almost 4. I put on a lot with my first pregnancy and tried my hardest not to with the second. Well I have not lost the weight. We are going to be trying for our 3rd child soon and I don't want to gain a ton of weight so I joined Weight Watchers. I had my first weigh in and I am down 5 pounds. Because I only have so many points in a day, I am learning portion sizes. I never watched the size of food I put into my mouth. Now I am slowly learning what the correct portions are. I also have incorporated a lot of fruits and veggies. Unfortunately I haven't mastered the whole working out yet, but that is slowly getting better. I try for at least 3 days a week. Once the nice weather comes back to our area, I will be walking a ton.
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies for your great advice, I'll definitely try to halve my portions. When I was gaining too much weight during pregnancy the midwife gave the same advice. It wasn't the quality of food that I had to be concerned about, because I eat healthy, but the quantity.
ReplyDeletePapgena, do fruit count as a meal ?
no!! I only could eat fruit in the end of lunch or dinner. Or in the little snack of the morning but I had to eat a cracker or two with the fruit (and I could only eat a small piece of the fruit like a small apple or a small pear). Fruit cannot be eat alone because then the body ingest the sugar very quickly!
